Maniac Player - Poker Terms

The phrase maniac is used in poker to describe a player who very erratic, constantly betting and raising even with weak hands. Maniacs tend to play a high percentage of hands and rarely fold. In general maniacs are not good or winning players, although it can be good strategy to play aggressive maniac players tend to take it too far.

Why some people choose to play like this may vary from player to player but you have to believe they enjoy bluffing and playing very aggressively. They can be quite annoying to play against but also very profitable if you stay patient. If you wait for a strong hand a maniac can be very easy to trap, just let them bluff all their money off to you.
